Queen Elizabeth's School has not published these dates yet. When we checked, its admissions page gave dates for September 2027 entry and earlier. Its FAQs say the registration form is available from early May and the open day is usually on the first Thursday in July.

The papers
One session, English and Maths only
The school says its entrance test consists of two multiple-choice papers in English and Mathematics, sat in a single session, and that there is only one round. Each boy is given a morning or an afternoon session by the school. Details are emailed the week before the test.
Register in the summer of Year 5
The school says its online registration form is available from early May for Year 7 entry in September of the following year, and must be sent in before the published deadline in July. This year the deadline was noon on 8 July 2026, more than two months before the test. The dates for 2028 entry are not yet published.
How scores are used
Answer sheets are marked electronically. The school says scores are standardised by the company that supplies the tests, taking account of the candidates' ages. Candidates with a combined score of 225 or higher are eligible to be considered for admission. Reaching that score is not an offer of a place. Where applicants have equal scores, the school ranks them by straight-line distance from home to the main school gate.
Sample papers, not past papers
The school says past papers are not available. Its website has sample papers, and it says these may not reflect the format of its entrance exams. The school does not publish how long each paper lasts, so the timings in our QE-style mock are our own estimate.

What a Year 5 parent can do now
- Look at the sample papers on the school's website together, so your child sees the kind of skills the test asks for.
- Start short, regular practice in English and maths now, and add timed multiple-choice papers in the summer term.
- Check the school's admissions page from spring 2027 for the 2028 entry dates. This year the test request form opened on 1 May 2026 and closed at noon on 8 July 2026.
How to prepare
- Look through the sample papers on the school's website to see some of the skills needed.
- Practise multiple-choice English and maths in short, regular sessions.
- Practise marking answers on a separate answer sheet, because the real sheets are marked electronically.
